Dear CPFSC Member:
It is now time to renew your membership for the 2006-2007 skating season. Our club continues to support and participate in both United States Figure Skating Association (USFSA) and International Skating Institute (ISI) sanctioned events. I am enclosing a membership form which explains the various membership categories. For most people, the dues for membership in USFSA will be the $75. This includes the first family member and parent. Additional family members will pay according to the fee schedule as listed on the membership application. The USFSA membership year runs July 1st to June 30th. Dues are not prorated. If you wish to participate as an ISI member only, dues are $35. Please note that in order to compete at USFSA events or to test in USFSA, you must be a USFSA member.
Kindly find enclosed (1) The City of Palms Figure Skating Club membership application (please fill it out in its entirety), (2) a volunteer good-faith commitment (please sign and return), and (3) an emergency treatment release form. DO NOT TAKE THEM TO THE SKATIUM. THEY WILL NOT BE PROCESSED UNLESS RECEIVED BY MAIL WITH A CHECK ONLY. NO CASH. In order to participate in club functions, which include club ice and fund-raising activities, you must be a member “in good standing.” Like most other non-profit clubs, it is expected that all members will actively participate and promote the CPFSC functions and activities. Last year we voted to require all member families to volunteer 20 hours in a year, or be assessed $10 for every hour not fulfilled at the end of the year. (You may also choose to pay the additional $200 in lieu of volunteering.) This excludes coaches. We will have a log book to track volunteer hours, as you turn them in. You will receive 1 volunteer hour for every meeting you attend. All regular club meetings are “open” and are the first Monday of each month at 6:30 pm at the Ft. Myers Skatium. All financial commitments must be met prior to processing your membership application or you will not be considered a “member in good standing” and USFSA will be notified. By submitting your application, you are agreeing to all financial/volunteer requirements.
We encourage you to get your membership forms in quickly for budget and accounting purposes, and so that you can take full advantage of all member benefits. It takes USFSA approximately 6 weeks to process applications and get cards out to you. Again, dues are not prorated. Any renewals received after September 1st will be assessed a $20 processing fee. This does not apply to new members joining after that date. For new members only, volunteer hours are prorated from the time of application.
Please watch your emails as this is our most common form of communication. You are also encouraged to frequently check the club bulletin board at the rink for upcoming competition and event information. USFSA competition or test applications require the signature of the test chair (for testing) or a club officer (for competitions) prior to submission. Please allow us time to get those forms signed for you.
